Zion Lutheran Church
July 14, 2009

Present: Andy Simon, President, Steve Anfinson, Sandra Yarbrough, Mary Vestuto, Donna Kelley, Bobbie Joines, Sara McKeon, Pastor Don Rauhut, Jennie Motheral, Jerry Stowe, Martha Kies and guests Barbara Dierker, Judy Johnson and Sherry Mikeska.

Andy Simon called meeting to order.

Opening prayer and devotional was given by Sandra Yarbrough.

Guest: Judy Johnson reported on up and coming events: Rally Day, selling advance tickets for Zion’s Got Talent Program on September 20th and inviting a quartet group, Gensis, for the Christmas Program. Jennie Motheral made a motion to invite the quartet group and Bobbie Joines seconded. Motion carried by all.

Pastor’s Report: Pastor Don Rauhut gave a report on attendance in 2008 - 322 and 2009 - 284. The offerings for 2008 - General Fund $230,363, Building Fund $54,417; and for 2009 - General Fund $196,203 and Building Fund $63,180. See attached report.

Treasurer: Sara McKeon reported contributions are down for June and July. See attached report. Approval of Minutes: Donna Kelley made a motion to approve minutes with corrections to be made, seconded by Bobbie Joines. Motion carried by all.

President’s Comments: Andy Simon reported on installation for new Pastor Mike Williams and reception to follow service.

Committee Reports:

Property: Gerald Stowe: Insurance Survey Report- attached report on inspection.
Bobbie Joines made a motion to procede with correcting deficiencies and writing new procedures. Donna Kelly seconded. Reported needing two people to count money at all times.

Benevolence: July will be Salvation Army and CAM will be in August.

Children’s Center: Steve Anfinson reported full at this time and taking names on waiting list.

Fellowship: Sandra Yarbrough open report for suggestions for Church picnic scheduled on August 30th. Bobbie Joines suggested using Youth Group to help with younger children at the picnic. Jennie Motheral suggested having photographer at the event.

Evangelism: Jennie Motheral is sending cards out to prospects and reported needing new brochures for mail-outs. Reported company with photo directory contacted her to see if Zion was ready for a new directory.

Parish Education: Bobbie Joines reported Adult bible study on Sunday morning held by Pastor Bill Breen, Mark Bigott teaching the 7-12 grades.

Prayer and Devotions for August 11, 2009 will be Jennie Motheral.
