Zion Lutheran Church
June 9,

Present: Andy Simon, President, Steve Anfinson, Sandra Yarbrough, Mary Vestuto, Donna Kelley, Bobbie Joines, Donna Jenschke and Sara McKeon.

Andy Simon called meeting to order and the opening prayer was given by Steve Anfinson.

Andy reported some results from letters and calls on working to have a more up-to-date list of members. Several of those contacted did not want their names withdrawn from the active list.

Jerry Stowe reported janitorial supply expenses running behind budget, with increased demand expected later. He will attend the insurance inspection of the Church and Children’s Center. Reported - there continues to be an on going struggle with the air-conditioning in the old sanctuary and told that Weldon Baker will donate a roll top desk for Pastor Don Rauhut to use when the new Pastor comes. Jerry also reported continued struggles with Windstream over current charges on their past service. Also, the need to set up a service contract for the re-installed bell.

Sara McKeon gave the Treasurer’s Report with giving and expenses being under budget. Sara stated Mary Vestuto would present Marcus Bigott with a $4,000 check at Sunday’s service.

Andy Simon stated Howard Stallsmith left an endowment fund (restricted) of $26,000 and $16,000 (unrestricted) thru Thrivent Financial to Zion Lutheran Church.

Mary Vestuto led the discussion on the bldg loan - on March 31, 2003, the new sanctuary loan was $1,200,000. The current balance of $360,000 is scheduled to be paid off in September, 2011.

Approval of minutes were given by Steve Anfinson with the correction of spelling of Treasurer and Bobbie Joines seconded the motion. Motion carried by all.

Steve Anfinson reported on 87 children enrolled at the Day Care and finances running in good shape.

Sandra Yarbrough reported that 155 people stayed for Super Sunday Brunch on May31. August 30th is scheduled to be the church picnic held this year at Zion. Discussion on when to celebrate the new Pastor arrival was shared, but will be discussed at a later date.

Donna Jenschke reported Rally Day is to celebrate the teachers and kick off the new year
of Sunday School. Donna stated Nicki Kordzik is challenging the youth to be a
Christian, not just on Sunday. Wednesday nights bible study will be lead by Jeff and
Misty Erlund.

Bobbie Joines reported Parish Education will have Vacation Bible School on June 22-26, 2009. Adult Bible Study held by Pastor. Bill Breen. Bobbie said a suggestion box is placed in the Narthex for any new suggestions, and needs to be checked often. Bobbie also stated Objectives are to be deep in the word, real in the faith and walk that walk. 121 have been attending Sunday School.

Donna Kelley reported benevolence focus for June is Member Support and July will be Salvation Army.

Prayer and devotion next meeting will be given by Sandra Yarbrough.
