Zion Lutheran Church
May 12, 2009

Present: Andy Simon, President, Steve Anfinson, Sandra Yarbrough, Mary Vestuto, Donna Kelley, Jennie Motheral, Bobbie Joines, Donna Jenschke and Sara McKeon.

Also Present: Bill Williams and Pastor Don Rauhut.

Andy Simon called meeting to order and the opening prayer was given by Pastor Don Rauhut.

Bill Williams representing the Call Committee reported to the Council that they anticipated Pastor Michael Williams to accept the call. The Call Committee is proposing a total package of $86,514 (see attached document). Motion made by Jennie Motheral to accept as presented, seconded by Sandra Yarbrough. Motion carried by all. Motion to extend the call to Pastor Williams to be taken to the Congregational Meeting on Super Sunday, May 31, 2009 for approval.

Open discussion on the future: installation service, dinner, morning worship service and how to handle not voted on at this time. It was reported there 114 inactive (no offering in 2 years and no attendance in 1 year). Required for Pastor to go thru list and contact with phone calls and letters. Takes a quorum to change membership status, voting members are confirmed members totaling 632 with associated members not included.

Jennie Motheral made a motion to accept Minutes of May 2nd, “Special called Meeting” as presented, seconded by Sandra Yarbrough. Motion carried by all.

Treasurer’s report was given with Sara McKeon reporting income steady with YTD income ahead and expenses ahead, with building fund running short.

Discussion on change of the resolution, accepting of new proposed objectives and extending a call of the new pastor to be voted on by a quorum of voting members of the congregation.

Simon stated a Called Congregation Meeting to be called for May 31 to present for Congregation consideration the hiring of Pastor Williams. All agreed this would be the best date considering the holidays coming up on the calendar. Upon approval by the congregation Bill Williams will send a letter to Pastor Michael Williams of the call.

Steve Anfinson reported the Children’s Center full with an enrollment of 87. Payments are current with only two behind in paying. Children’s Center staff doing well and a change is needed in overtime calculation; also reported near auto mishap in the parking lot.

Donna Jenschke gave a report that Nikki (Kordzik) is to begin work on May 15th to June 30th for $1,500 then July, August, September at the same rate. Letter will go out to all youth to introduce Jess and Misty who are working with the youth on Wednesday evening. Copy attached.

Bobbie Joines reported a suggestion box would be placed in the Narthex.

Donna Kelley reported benevolence focus in June, member support. Donna will contact Marcus Bigott - reference $4,000 for assistance at Wartburg.

Sandra Yarbrough reminded Council of May 31, 2009 Super Sunday brunch and reported she is working on inventory list to track supplies.

Jennie Motheral reported receiving information on 12 week course on Financial Peace and will work on getting committee together.
