Nominating committee is working hard.

Bottom-line looks good due to staff positions not being filled. Committee Reports:

Property - Jerry Stowe reported parking lot will be leveled to help with drainage; may or may not need sump. Trying to save trees and shrubs when installing sprinkler system; sod will be needed after instillation. Gutters need to be extended. Modify point on wall out front and bust out the curb. Andy Simon stated the approximate cost is $7000.00.

The bell is in Kerrville, week of the 22nd it should be reinstalled. Have not decided on electronic controls as of yet. New sanctuary has major wiring problems in panel; a number of wires have been burnt through. Wires have been fixed temporarily; new wiring is on order. Problem seems to have been caused by the manufacture. Not quite finished with computer wire, waiting until bell wiring is finished. Air conditioner over cry room needs duct repair. This is a high priority to have fixed, cost is unknown. Previous duct work was completed with residential grade products, not commercial. Alfred Valero has been offered another job paying more money. Jerry will talk with Al about this.

Stewardship - Bobbie Joines reported current budget ok. Concerned with building fund-balance is $385,000. Hopeful end of the year will bring more income for the building fund. Exploring different strategies for fund raising; does not see need to refinance.

Worship/Music - Barbara Vanderhoof reported Rally Day went well. Good response from red pew cards. Choirs are back, both played Sunday.  Pastor explained contemporary verses blended. Our services are more contemporary, appealing to the baby boomers.  Communion and usher training are needed; Pastor to check into training.

Zion Lutheran Children’s Center (ZLCC) - Steve Anfinson reported cash flow shortage at end of August, received advance from Church. Hard to tell exact cause; enrollment was less than anticipated along with collection issues combined with some unexpected losses. Since then ZLCC has become more assertive about collecting fees. Current enrollment is 81; budget is based at 80. Cash advance was in the amount of $3300, which is the Church balance for rest of the year. September’s income is greater than August at this point. Bobbie Joines offers donation of venison to ZLCC; Steve to see if donation is allowable.

Evangelism - Chuck Eissler resigned. Elizabeth Brown and Wally Freeman were mentioned along with Joyce Bailey as possible nominees. Bernie Bruns may be candidate. Nominating committee is aware of vacancy.

Prayer and devotional for October 14, 2008 meeting will be given by Steve Anfinson.

Respectfully submitted,

Beverly Fischer
